Slow Down by Rob Araujo review

“In the future we’ll have flying cars,” they said.

“In the future, jazz musicians will have gotten their heads around sequencing.”

And haven’t they just. Every year the jazz beats get busier, smarter and sweeter. Inevitably – and I wonder if he’s sick of this – Rob Araujo is going to be compared to Anomolie, but this is no allusion. Where Anomolie will wow and overwhelm the listener with brashness, ‘Slow Down’ burns feel for fuel, resulting in a fatigue-free vibe.

With this track, Rob Araujo has struck the perfect balance of beat and jazz flair. Honestly, I wish this vibe went on for hours, and with a whole other jazz catalogue to embrace, you’d be forgiven for thinking Rob is just doing this for fun.
